1. Stay hydrated: This is not specific just to vacation, most times when on vacation, people kind of neglect their hydration when they go into hotter humidity. It is normal to sweat a lot in hotter humidity, hence it is best you replenish your body fluid in the form of drinking lot of water. Staying hydrated first thing in the morning by drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake helps to start the day on a right footing.
2. Limit snacking: A lot of people don't realize how much calories they can add up when on vacation. Taking a bite of everything during vacation can easily add between 800 to 1000 calories of not nutrient-based foods and that can easily put you off track your fitness goal hence, It is vital you limit snacking while on vacation.
3. Macro fasting: This is essentially a type of intermittent fasting where you focus on proteins in the morning e.g. Protein shake or protein bar, egg whites, fish, meat and Greek yogurt. Embarking on macro fasting by taking mostly protein based substance while on vacation can help us stay fit. Ensure you prioritize protein meal.
4. Eat Healthy Meal: Again, it is important to focus on eating healthy food while on vacation. If you must drink alcohol beverages, it is advisable to go for lighter ones like light fruity alcoholic drinks like blueberry gin, Appletini, Lemonade drops etc.
6. Stay Active: Simple activities like playing with the kids on the beach or running by the beach side can help you stay fit during vacation. Prioritizing outdoor activities like camping, walking, biking etc. can help shade of unnecessary weight build up. Lastly, staying fit during vacation is important and a smart thing to do for the sake of your health. However, if you realize that you are adding up calories fast and can’t keep of eating unhealthy food during your vacation, it is better you go home.
